Michelle Trachtenberg Was ‘Really Sick’ and ‘Struggling’ Last Year Before Her Death, Source Says

Trachtenberg Was Found Dead in New York City on the Morning of Wednesday, Feb. 26
Michelle Trachtenberg was reportedly “struggling” before her sudden death.

The former Gossip Girl actress was 39 when she was found dead in New York City on Wednesday, Feb. 26. A source told PEOPLE that Trachtenberg was “really emotionally devastated” last year. She had also been dealing with “health issues.”

“She told friends she was struggling,” the source said. “She was really, really sick and open with those around her about how hard she was struggling.”

In terms of appearance, the insider claimed Trachtenberg looked “pale, gaunt” and “very thin.”

Police responded to a 911 call at 1 Columbus Place in New York City around 8 a.m. on February 26, the NYPD confirmed to PEOPLE. “Upon arrival, officers found a 39-year-old woman unconscious and unresponsive. EMS responded to the location and pronounced the victim deceased. No foul play is suspected.”
The investigation is ongoing. The New York Post was first to report the news.
PEOPLE know that Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant. A source told ABC News that could have led to complications.
